My eye was caught by the fourth image. The stark black, coupled with the luminosity of the streetlamp is dramatic and yet also surreal. I cannot determine whether the photograph was taken during the day or night - is the dappled light in the background from the sun or an artificial light source? The uncertainty is provocative. Your depth of field is well-executed, and the crisp contours of the lamp contrast nicely with the out of focus foliage, balancing the left and right sides of the photo. The image pairs well with the tenth photograph. of the crow. together, photos 4 and 10 read very Edgar Allen Poe: morose and mysterious, but also anticipatory.
I think there is a clear focus on your series of 10 this week on darks and lights and almost abstracting them into just shapes. It seems to me your 5th and 9th image are almost the same subject, but the 9th feels a little more successful texture and contrast wise. I really enjoy the abstraction from reality almost, it makes you question what you're looking at, when its just every day things, yet taken out of context because they are so close up makes them interesting.
The picture of the lamp post has a theme of soft luminous qualities, the leaves have spaces of light coming in and the lamp is glowing as well, it's nice to look at. I love the 7th photo, theres a sense of blurriness and texture simultaneously. It also has a mysterious quality to it, because it's blurred it could be almost anything and it keeps the viewer guessing, and eventually able to come up with their own idea of what it is. I love the perspective of the flower photo, the upside down look is a fun take on the picture. The first photo is very unsettling in an intriguing way, the zig zag patters on the curtains are very contained, yet the bright light of pattern breaks in certain places.
