In the third photograph from the top the moment captured is candid and intimate. The centric composition asks the viewer to only focus on the subject. It is as though the child is asking for all of our attention. This photograph asks the viewer to involve his or herself into the mind of the child. The exposure enhances this feeling of despair and contemplation.
I have to commend you for photographing strangers (assumedly without their being aware). It lends an honesty and vulnerability to the figures that conscious poses lack. The third photo, of the straight-backed boy with crossed-arms, is particularly effective. His stance parallels the shadow cast by the building, and his wiry frame adds a verticality directing one's gaze thoroughly up and down the image. The contrast between his bright trousers and dark boots convey a sense of groundedness; it's as though the solid, working boots are anchoring him amidst the action in the periphery.

ReplyDeleteThe one of the women driving just draws my attention. It's just a really interesting picture and the way she's dressed adds more curiosity to it
